Born in 1973, Tânia Ganho won a national literary competition, "Ler Melhor para Viver Melhor", at the age of 12 and hasn't stopped writing fiction ever since. It was only in 2005, though, that she decided to publish her first novel, A Vida Sem Ti (Life Without You), followed by Cuba Libre, in 2007, both by Oficina do Livro (Portugal). Her third book, A Lucidez do Amor, came out in January 2010, by the prestigious publisher Porto Editora.
She studied Languages and Literature, and taught translation as guest lecturer at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. After having done technical translation and subtitling for TV, she decided to devote herself exclusively to the literary world, and has since translated authors such as David Lodge, Ali Smith, Rachel Cusk, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Abha Dawesar, Nicholas Shakespeare, Terenci Moix, Jeanette Winterson, Annie Proulx and Anaïs Nin, among many others.
She has lived in London and Paris, and is currently in Lisbon writing her next novel. She is married and has a son.
